Grand Valley State's men's track and field team recorded four more NCAA Qualifying marks over the weekend. The Lakers sent squads to the Cougar Classic hosted by SIUE and the Bulldog Invitational hosted at Ferris State. GVSU will compete in the Sea Ray Relays in Knoxville, Tenn. on Thursday and Friday and at the DII Challenge in Emporia, Kan.
At the Cougar Classic, senior Brian Beach won the pole vault in a qualifying mark of 16-02.75. Junior Nick Natale won the shot put with a throw of 51-10.50 and placed third with an NCAA qualifying mark of 175-02 in the hammer throw. Junior Casey Fechter took second in the hammer throw in a qualifying mark of 184-00.
Senior Kenny Coleman finished third in the 400 meter dash with a time of 49.42, while sophomore Dan Jackson (14.82) and Garron Lucius (14.89) finished in first and second, respectively in the 110 meter hurdles. Senior Josh Harris finished in third place in the discus throw (161-00).
At the Bulldog Invite, Michael Palombo finished third in the 200 meter dash in a time of 22.50, while Mackenzie Lucius won the 400 meter dash in a time of 49.20. Brian Cermak took second (1:56.44) and Adam Kennedy placed fourth (1:57.61) in the 800 meter dash. Peter Antor ran a 55.26 to take second in the 400 meter hurdles, while Chris Hammer placed third in the 3000 meter steeplechase in a time of 9:45.00.
