Grand Valley State's men travled to three different meets over the weekend. The Laker distance runner traveled to Palo Alto, Calif. for the Stanford Invitational, the pole vaulters were in Abilene, Texas for the Oliver Jackson Invite, and the rest of the squad was at the Grand Rapids Open at Houseman Field in Grand Rapids. Multiple Lakers recorded personal bests, NCAA Qualifying marks, and three women set school records.
In California, Nate Peck posted the lone NCAA Qualifying mark for the Laker men out of the four competing. His time of 14:28.51 in the 5,000 meter should hold up throughout the season to qualify him for the NCAA National Championships. Grant Fall posted a time of 14:56.97 in the 5,000 meter, John Collins finished the 800 in a time of 1:53.81, and Kenny Coleman ran a 49.60 in the 400.
The Laker pole vaulters competed in Abilene where Brian Beach cleared 15'7" and Bryant Wilson had a height of 15'0".
At the Grand Rapids Open, the Laker men were led by wins from Bryan Boeve in the 1500 meter run with a time of 4:06.74. The 4x100 relay team won with a time of 42.22 and the 4x400 won in a time of 3:20.03.
On Saturday, April 8, Grand Valley State will send part of their squad to the Cougar Classic at SIUE in Edwardsville, Ill., while the others will go to the Bulldog Invite at Ferris State.
