Grand Valley State's men's indoor track and field team is in fifth place with 10 points after day one of the 2006 NCAA Division II Indoor Championships at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston, Mass. The championships will conclude on Saturday, March 11.

Three Lakers earned All-American honors Friday. Freshman Bryant Wilson scored three points as he finished tied for fourth place in the finals of the pole vault with a mark of 15-06.25. Junior Charles Smith finished in fourth place in the weight throw, scoring five points with a mark of 62-06.00. Junior Nick Natale took seventh place in the weight throw, posting a mark of 60-08.00 for two points.

Sophomore Nate Peck qualified in the mile run, finishing sixth in the prelims in a time of 4:07.55, while junior Bryan Boeve qualified for the finals in the 800 meter run with a prelim time of 1:53.95. Both sophomores Dan Jackson (8.09) and Garron Lucius (8.18) qualified for the finals in the 60 meter hurdles.
