Findlay, Ohio - Grand Valley State had four runners score in each of the three distance events as they claimed their ninth straight GLIAC Indoor Track and Field title. The Lakers finished the meet with 199.66 points, which was 52.66 points ahead of second place. The nine straight wins by Grand Valley is the most that any GLIAC team has ever won. The NCAA Championships are in Mankato, Minn. on March. 14 and 15.

Garron Lucius was the Lakers' sole placer in the 55-meter dash, taking fifth place with a time of 6.65 seconds. Lucius earned a win in the 55-meter hurdles with a provisionally qualifying time of 7.55 seconds. Troy Rock took seventh place in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.82 seconds. Rock's time of 49.75 was good enough for second place in the 400-meter dash, and Craig Rumpf took sixth in the same event with of time of 51.09 seconds. In the 800-meter run, Todd Schuster crossed the tape first with a time of 1:55.15 for 10 points. Joey Latz and Bill Makela joined Lucuis in the 55-meter hurdles, finishing fourth and sixth with times of 7.79 and 8.01 seconds, respectively. GVSU also took points in the 4x400-meter relay (second place) and the distance medley relay (first place and fieldhouse record).

The distance events were where Grand Valley State made its mark. In the mile, Nate Peck took first at 4:14.54 (provisionally qualifying mark), while Nick Polk took second at 4:16.62, Grant Fall finished fourth with a time of 4:18.27 and Ryan Holm was fifth at 4:19.33. They had four placers in the 3000-meter event, as well, headlined by Peck once again, who won with a time of 8:32.22. James Gale was second with a time of 8:35.97, Grant Fall came in third with a time of 8:36.84 and Robbie Young was fifth with a time of 8:39.80. Another four runners scored in the 5000-meter run, with Polk taking first with a provisionally-qualifying time of 14:46.20. Gale was second, also provisionally qualifying, at 14:50.43. Ross Faasse's provisionally qualifying time of 14:51.63 took third and Young was fifth again with a time of 14:55.74.
 

 

In the field events, Ryan Rademacher set the pace, winning the triple jump with a distance of 45'3.75" and placing second in the long jump with a distance of 22'7". Andrew Post also placed in the long jump with a seventh-place distance of 22'0.25". Nathaniel Smith placed third in the triple jump, followed by Robert Metellus, who took fifth. Nate Miller's jump of 6'8" took first in the high jump and Kevin Mulder's jump of 6'4" was good enough for eighth place. Bryant Wilson's automatically-qualifying height of 16'6.75" in the pole vault took first, while Matt Gordeneer was seventh and Latz and Scott Levering tied for eighth.

Grand Valley State Men's Track
