Allendale, Mich. - Grand Valley State won 10 events at the Grand Rapids Championships on Friday in the GVSU Fieldhouse Arena. The 4x400 relay team set a new GVSU record with a time of 3:17.84 and Boomer Hoppough improved his NCAA qualifying time in the 55 hurdles as he won the event in 7.64.

Jim Rejc won the 55 dash with a time of 6.52, and Jordan Lake placed first in the 400 in 49.61. Scott Mackey earned the victory in the 200 (22.50), while Dave Siik won the 800 in 1:54.99.

There were also four winners in the field events for the Lakers. Ryan Tibble won the high jump with a height of 6'4". Joe LeFevre jumped 22'10.5" to win the long jump while Kirk Manchip went 46'5.75" to win the triple jump. Romelle Taylor was the Lakers final champion with a distance of 53'4" in the shot put.

GVSU will compete at the 2003 GLIAC Indoor Championships next weekend (Feb. 28-Mar. 1) at Saginaw Valley State.
