Allendale, Mich. - Grand Valley State was impressive in the Eubanks Open on Friday night in the GVSU Fieldhouse. The Lakers won six events and had three individuals hit provisional marks for NCAA National competition. Kirk Manchip and Ryan Tibble hit 6'8 1/4" in the high jump to qualify, while Romelle Taylor had a throw of 54'8" in the weight throw for his qualifying toss. Manchip also won the triple jump. Tim Nichols won the mile in a time of 4:23.71, and both the 4 x 400 and the 4 x 800 relay teams earned victories. The Lakers will be at home again next weekend as they host the GVSU Open on Saturday (January 25) at 11:00 am in the GVSU Fieldhouse Arena.
