Grand Valley recorded another solid performance as they hosted the Bob Eubanks Classic on Friday. The Lakers will travel to Saginaw Valley for the Saginaw Invite on January 23 at 5:00 p.m.
On the men's side, Jimmie Freeman recorded a time of 7.81 in the 55 meter hurdles, while Kenny Coleman won the 400 meter dash with a time of 49.36. Blake Terhune (8:45.28) and Jeff Vyain (8:48.47) finished second and third respectively in the 3000 meter run. Kirk Manchip placed first and recorded a NCAA Qualifying mark in the long jump (23'06.00) and also took first in the triple jump (45-07.00).
On the women's side, Krista O'Dell recorded a NCAA Provisional Qualifying mark in the mile with a time of 5:00.84. Ashley Thomas took first in the 400 meter dash with a time of 58.41 and Alex Baker won the 55 meter hurdles, recording a time of 8.62.
"This meet was a nice step forward for both squads and will prepare us for the big meets we have coming up on the road," commented head coach Jerry Baltes.
