Three Grand Valley State men's tennis players earned All-GLIAC honors for the spring season. Senior Adam Sandusky (Three Rivers, Mich.) was selected to the first team as voted on by the league's head coaches. A pair of Laker freshmen, Tony Dang from Ottawa, Ontario and Patrick Troy (Beverly Hills, Mich.), were named to the All-GLIAC second team.
Sandusky spent his senior season playing in the No. 1 singles slot. He tallied a 15-15 record on the year and went 5-2 in GLIAC play, helping the Lakers to a 6-1 GLIAC mark and a second place finish in the conference tournament. In doubles action, Sandusky spent the early part of his season in the No. 1 doubles slot teamed up with Troy and the tandem went 7-4, mostly in tournament play. In the latter half of the season, Sandusky played No. 1 doubles with Dang and was able to record a 14-9 mark in that position.
Dang, named to the All-GLIAC second team, earned his recognition by going 19-9 in singles play. As a freshman, he spent his entire season in the No. 2 position. Dang tallied an impressive 6-1 mark in the GLIAC and won his last eight matches overall. In doubles play, he and Sandusky went 5-2 in the GLIAC.
Freshman Patrick Troy was also stellar in his first season, capturing a 23-9 overall singles record, good enough to place him on the All-GLIAC second team as well. Troy spent the majority of the season in No. 3 singles. He lost his first two GLIAC matches, but rallied to win the next four to capture a 4-2 GLIAC record. Troy ended his season with a seven-match winning streak.
The Lakers went 18-6 on the season and earned a second-place finish in the GLIAC Tournament. GVSU is ranked third in the Great Lakes Region behind Drury (1) and Northwood (2) and is currently awaiting its seeding and matchup in the Great Lakers Region Tournament.
