Allendale, Mich. - Grand Valley States men's tennis coach John Black announced the signing of two student-athletes to attend and play tennis for the Lakers. Andrew Darrell (Kalamazoo, Mich.) and Bryan Hodges (Bloomfield Hills, Mich.) will be joining the squad for the 2010-2011 season.

Darrell, who is a senior at Loy Norrix High School, was a four-year starter under Art Williams. He finished his high school career with an overall record of 90-15, earning all-state honors in 2009 after reaching the state quarterfinals at #1 singles. In 2008, he also received all-state honorable mention plaudits. Andrew is currently ranked 116th in the USTA Midwest Rankings and is a two-star recruit on Tennisrecruiting.net.

Hodges, currently enrolled at Andover High School, played his first two years at Birmingham Brother Rice before finishing his career at Andover. He was a state qualifier all four years and compiled an overall record of 64-26. Bryan's last two years he was a state semifinalist and named first-team all-state at #1 singles.

"We are excited to have both Andrew and Bryan join the Grand Valley State men's tennis program," said Black. "Both are dedicated student-athletes who have the talent to break in to the line up as freshman. More importantly, both are great people and will fit right in with the team and make many contributions to the university both in the classroom and on the courts."
