Final Stats

Romeoville, Ill. - The Grand Valley State University men's tennis team recorded numerous outstanding performances at the Lewis Flyers Fall Classic. The Lakers competed individually in the flighted bracket-style tournament. This tournament was the final competition date in the fall for the Lakers.

Philipp Claus was the winner in the Flight 1 singles bracket. He defeated Cote (West. Ill.) in the final 7-6 (5), 6-4. Tony Dang took home 3rd place in the Flight 1 singles bracket. Dang won the 3rd place match over Darayatne (Ill. Spring.) by a score of 6-3, 6-3.

In the Flight 2 singles bracket Marc Roesslein lost in the finals to Uno Lapimaa (Lewis) 6-2, 6-0. Brock Plangger was the consolation winner in the Flight 2 singles bracket defeating McGowan (Ill. Spring.) 6-1, 6-3 in the consolation final.

Jeff Globerson won the Flight 3 singles bracket. Jeff won easily in the finals over Jesse Hardacre (Lewis) by a score of 6-4, 6-0. Josh Kazdan cruised to a 3rd place finish in the Flight 3 bracket winning 6-0, 6-0 in the 3rd place match.

Alex Parker was the Flight 4 singles winner. Parker defeated teammate Ryan Diebold in the finals in a close match 7-6 (5), 6-3. Both Parker and Diebold made quick work of their opponents in the first 2 rounds before meeting each other.

In the Flight 5 singles bracket Pat Snyder took 2nd place and Leon Cerdena took home 3rd place. Snyder lost in the finals to Fertitta (West. Ill.) 4-6, 6-1, 10-7. Cerdena won the 3rd place match 6-1, 6-3.

 

 

In doubles play, Tony Dang and Marc Roesslein paired up to win the Flight 1 doubles bracket. They defeated Lapimaa/Pestinger (Lewis) in the finals 8-5. Philipp Claus teamed with Brock Plangger to place 6th in the Flight 1 doubles bracket.

Jeff Globerson and Ryan Diebold paired to win the Flight 2 doubles bracket. The tandem cruised to the final and won the final 8-6 over Szymanski/Stecher (St. Francis). While Pat Snyder and Alex Parker teamed up to win the Flight 2 doubles consolation final by a score of 9-7.

In the Flight 3 doubles, Leon Cerdena combined with Josh Kazdan to take home the flight championship. Cerdena and Kazdan won their first two matches easily, and then won 8-6 in the final.
