Final Stats

The Grand Valley State men's tennis team completed the GVSU 2007 Invitational on October 5-6. Participating teams included Lake Superior State, Grand Rapids Community College, and Calvin. GVSU finished the Invitational with a 14-9 record in singles play and a 6-5 doubles record. The Lakers will be in action next weekend on October 12-13 as they travel to Lewis for the Lewis University Invitational.

In the singles A Flight, Renato Tamashiro won his first two matches and made it to the finals before losing to Calvin's Ricky Tilton, 6-4, 6-2. In the B Flight, Alex Switzer also advanced to the finals with two wins, before falling to Calvin's Steve DeMaagd. Ryan Diebold and Leon Cerdena each recorded third place finishes, beating Tyler Muller (GRCC) and Jack Miller (LSSU), respectively.

In doubles play, the team of Matt Globerson and Alex Switzer won Flight B by recording three straight wins. In the finals, the duo defeated Andrew DeVlieger and Tim Hewitt of Calvin. The team of Diebold and Patryk Polus placed third as they downed LSSU's Craig Bass and Steve Demps, 8-4. Cerdena and Jose Rivas fell in their third place match, 8-1.
