Grand Valley State competed in the Omni Hotels Great Lakes Regional Tournament in Midland on Sept. 26-28.

Adam Sandusky was seeded #20 and won his first round match, 6-4, 3-6, 1-0, before falling 6-2, 6-2, in second round action. #28 seed Kyle Dehne defeated his first round opponent, 6-3, 7-5, but fell, 5-7, 6-2, 1-0 in second round play.

Shauhgn Barnett, seeded #7, fell, 6-2, 6-0, in first round action, as did #15 seeded Justin Sauebrey, who fell, 6-2, 6-2. Pete Schwallier was seeded #22 and dropped his match, 6-1, 6-0 and Mike Bambini also fell in the first round, 6-1, 6-1.

In doubles action, Barnett and Sauebrey won in the first round, 8-6, before falling 8-1 in the second round. Bambini and Sandusky teammed up, but fell 8-5 in the first round. Dehne and Schwallier dropped in first round play, 8-3.

The Lakers will host the GVSU Invitational Tournament, which will be held in Jenison, Mich. The tournament will start on Friday, Oct. 3 at 4:00 p.m. and Saturday, Oct. 4 at 10:00 a.m.
