MIDLAND, Mich. - Grand Valley State saw its season come to an end with a 5-4 loss to Ferris State in the first round of the NCAA men's tennis tournament. The Lakers had previously defeated FSU by the same score in the GLIAC tournament.

The Lakers took two of the three points from doubles competition, winning first and third doubles. Tony Dang and Marc Roesslein teamed up to take an 8-4 win in the top spot, while Brock Plangger and Michael Coupek won by the same score in the third slot.

In singles competition, Philipp Claus and Plangger took two points to give the Lakers their final total of four. Claus won 7-5, 7-6 (8-6) at third singles, while Plangger defeated his opponent 6-3, 6-2 at No. 4 singles.

This marked the fifth time that GVSU had advanced to the national level of competition.
