The Grand Valley State men's tennis team recorded a 9-0 victory at Michigan Tech on Sunday. GVSU closes its regular season at 16-5 overall and 6-1 in the GLIAC. The win is the second in two days for the Lakers. GVSU has now won three matches in a row heading into the GLIAC Tournament, which will take place next weekend in Midland, Mich.
Five Lakers earned straight set victories in singles action. Impressively, four GVSU players currently hold winning streaks of six matches or more. Alex Switzer picked up his team-best eighth win in a row with a 6-2, 7-6 (7-3) victory over Chris Calder. Patrick Troy defeated Brandon Ellefson by a 6-0, 6-0 margin. Tony Dang recorded a 4-6, 6-1, 10-5 three-set win in the No. 2 singles slot. Adam Sandusky, Matt Globerson, and Ryan Diebold also found the win column for GVSU.
Grand Valley made quick work of the Huskies in doubles play, taking all three matchups. Sandusky and Dang beat Calder and Brett Girard by an 8-6 score. Troy and Justin Sauerbrey downed Rick Halverson and Andrew Sims, 8-3. Switzer and Globerson teammed up to win their fourth match in a row, 8-4.
