Grand Valley State's men's tennis team clinched the #3 seed in the GLIAC Tournament with an 8-1 victory over Michigan Tech Thursday afternoon. GVSU will play #6-seeded Michigan Tech again in the first round of the tournament on Friday, April 15 at 9:00 a.m. at the Midland Community Tennis Center. The Lakers improved to 15-8 overall and 4-3 in GLIAC action, while the Huskies fell to 9-7 overall and 2-5 in the GLIAC.

GVSU swept all three doubles matches and took five out of six in singles play. Sophomore Kyle Dehne suffered the lone Laker loss at #1 singles, falling 4-6, 6-1, 10-8 to Chris Zellner. Sophomore Adam Sandusky won, 6-1, 6-0 over Sean at #2 singles, while junior Nirun Raju defeated Yassine Borkadi, 6-1, 6-1 at #3 singles. In the #4 singles slot, junior Scott Gregory beat Rick Halverson, 6-2, 6-2 and freshman Alex Switzer picked up a 7-6 (5-0), 6-2 win over Steve Musgrove at #5 singles. Sophomore Michael Bambini rounded out singles play with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Taylor VanDusen at #6 singles.

Dehne and Sandusky teammed up at #1 doubles to defeat Zellner and Musgrove, 8-6, while Gregory/Raju beat Cafmeyer/Halverson, 8-2 at #2 doubles. Switzer and Bambini won, 8-1, over VanDusen/Borkadi at #3 doubles.
