Grandville, Mich. - Grand Valley State University dropped a hard-fought match to perennial tennis powerhouse Northwood University on Wednesday, April 9. The No. 42 Lakers received strong performances from Philipp Claus and Brock Plangger, but it wasn't enough, as GVSU fell by the final score of 7-2 to the No. 16 Timberwolves. Grand Valley State is now 15-5 (3-2) on the season.

Claus and Plangger were the two winners for Grand Valley State, with Claus taking a point at fourth singles 6-4, 6-2 and Plangger winning at sixth singles 6-2,6-4. Alex Switzer nearly pulled off a win, as well, falling in his match 7-6 (4), 7-6 (6). Tony Dang and Renato Tamashiro fell at first and second singles, respectively, by the final score of 6-4, 6-4.

The Lakers did not take any doubles points, with the closest doubles match being a loss by Switzer and Matt Globerson, 8-4.
