Grand Valley State knocked off Wayne State, 5-4, in a GLIAC match at Ramblewood on Monday. The Lakers improve to 12-6 overall and 3-1 in the GLIAC. GVSU will travel to Findlay on Saturday, April 8 at noon and to Mercyhurst on Sunday, April 9 at 10:00 a.m.
The Lakers swept the Warriors in doubles action and held on to take two out of six in singles action to seal the 5-4 win. Kyle Dehne and Adam Sandusky defeated Sebastien Foka and Donavon Mitchell 8-5 in #1 doubles action, while Scott Gregory and Nirun Raju won, 8-5, over Arthur Carrilho and Matt Fisher at #2 doubles. Mike Bambini and Jim Farmer also won 8-5 in the #3 doubles slot over Ryan Buck and R.J. Rodgerson.
Dehne dropped a 6-3, 7-6 (7-1) decision to Foka at #1 singles, while Sandusky fell, 6-4, 7-6 (7-5) to Mitchell in the #2 singles slot. Gregory lost, 2-6, 6-2, 6-4 to Carrilho at #3 singles. Raju picked up a 3-6, 6-1, 6-4 win at #4 singles, but Bambini fell, 6-2, 6-1 to Adam Williams. Farmer won 2-6, 6-2, 6-2, over Buck in the #6 singles slot.
