Grand Valley State recorded a 7-2 win at Wayne State on Sunday. The Lakers improve to 10-4 overall and 1-1 in GLIAC play, while the Warriors drop to 5-7 overall and 0-3 in GLIAC action. GVSU will travel to Calvin College for a non-conference match on Thursday, March 29 at 3:00 p.m.
Grand Valley won five out of the six singles matches and two out of three in doubles play to take the win. Senior Adam Sandusky defeated Antoine Marenaud, 3-6, 6-1, 7-6 at #1 singles, while freshman Tony Dang beat Donavon Mitchell, 6-1, 6-1 in #2 singles play. Freshman Brock Plangger picked up a 6-3, 6-4 win over Arthur Carrilho at #4 singles and freshman Matt Globerson tallied a 6-3, 6-4 win at #5 singles against Ryan Buck. At #6 singles, sophomore Alex Switzer recorded a 6-4, 6-3 victory over Kevin Turnbull. Freshman Patrick Troy suffered a 2-6, 5-7 loss at #3 singles.
In #1 doubles play, Sandusky and Dang defeated Marenaud and Mitchell, 8-4, while Switzer and Globerson knocked off Buck and Turnbull, 8-5 in the #3 doubles slot. Troy and senior Justin Sauerbrey fell, 8-6, to Carrilho and Gomez at #2 doubles.
