Men's Tennis Edges Out Michigan Tech, 5-4

GRANDVILLE, Mich. - The Grand Valley State men's tennis team squeaked past Michigan Tech, 5-4, on Saturday night at the Ramblewood Tennis Center to remain undefeated in GLIAC play.

GVSU was able to jump out in front, 2-1, in doubles play. Francis Bertrand and Bryan Hodges edged out Pedro Rodriguez and Felipe dos Santos, 9-8 (4) in the No. 1 position. In the No. 2 spot, Andrew Darrell and Quinn Sylow defeated Javie Oliveros and Built Yumuang. MTU picked up the other point heading into singles.

Bertrand continued his winning ways into singles play, winning 6-2, 6-1, in the No. 1 position. Darrell also followed suit with a 6-2, 6-0, victory in No. 2 singles. The Lakers earned a 6-3, 6-4, win from Quinn Sylow in the No. 5 position to take the match.

Grand Valley State continues play against Lake Superior State on Sunday at 9 a.m. while taking on Division I opponent Western Michigan at 7 p.m. in Kalamazoo.
