Grand Valley State dropped a 7-2 decision Friday afternooon to #9 Northwood in Midland, Mich. The Lakers fall to 9-4 overall and 0-1 in GLIAC play, while the Timberwolves improve to 5-2 and 1-0. GVSU will travel to Wayne State on Sunday, March 25 for a noon match time.

Northwood won five out of six singles matches and two out of three in doubles play to take the win. At #1 singles, #1-ranked Teddy Mebounou defeated Adam Sandusky, 6-2, 6-0 and Henryk Seeger beat Tony Dang, 6-2, 6-0 at #2 singles. In the #3 singles slot, Olivier Brignoli knocked off Patrick Troy, 6-3, 6-3, while Marius Broek beat Brock Plangger (6-1, 6-0) in #4 singles action. Sasha Nanninga defeated Matt Globerson, 6-2, 6-1, in #5 singles play. Alex Switzer picked up the Lakers lone win in singles play, defeating Carlos Canudas, 6-4, 1-6, 1-0 (10-6).

The #4 ranked doubles team of Mebounou and Broek beat Sandusky and Dang, 8-5, in the #1 doubles slot. At #2 doubles, Justin Sauerbrey and Troy knocked off Nanninga and Canudas, 8-6. In #3 doubles play, Seeger and Brignoli defeated Switzer and Globerson, 8-6.
