Men's Swimming and Diving Stand in Fourth at Wheaton College Invitational
 

 
 
 

 
Junior Evan Kobes provided the Lakers with two first place finishes on Friday

The Grand Valley men's swimming and diving team completed day one of the Wheaton College Invitation in fourth place, tallying 266 points on Friday.

Senior Justin Vasquez demonstrated a strong performance, finishing fifth in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 1:56.75. He also contributed to the third place finish of the 800-yard freestyle relay team of freshman Aaron Phillippe, freshman Matt Witkowski and senior Dan Kimble. Justin Vasquez and Matt Witkowski, along with junior Evan Kobes and sophomore Justin Barkel won the 400-yard medley relay for the Lakers. Evan Kobes provided the Lakers with another first place finish in the 200-yard backstroke, clocking a 1:53.72. Justin Barkel and freshman Hans Hill provided the Lakers with strong swimming, finishing second and fourth in the 100-yard breaststroke, respectively.
