Lakers Earn Two GLIAC Swimming & Diving Honors

Bay City, Mich. - The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference honored freshman Kelsey Vermeer (Rockford, Mich.) and junior Patrick VanDommelen (Dorr, Mich./Wayland) for their efforts last week versus Findlay. GVSU will hit the road for a pair of dual meets at Hope (Friday) and Indianapolis (Saturday).

Vermeer led GVSU to a 156-66 victory over Findlay in a league dual meet last Saturday (Jan. 16). Vermeer finished first in the 50 free (24.37), swam the lead 100 back in the 400 medley relay (59.53) and added a lead 100 (54.78) on the 400 free relay. Junior VanDommelen (Dorr, Mich./Wayland) hit the NCAA DII "A" cut on the 1-meter board with his second-place score of 301.90 in the Lakers' 171-27 victory over Findlay. VanDommelen notched a score 265.58 on the 3-meter board.
