Ashland, Ohio - Grand Valley State fell into a four-place tie with Lewis University at the 2007 GLIAC Swimming & Diving Championships. The Lakers have a two-day total of 206 points, just seven points behind third-place Indianapolis (213) and 12 points back of Ashland (218). The GLIAC Championships will continue Friday morning with day three prelims.

The Lakers opened the evening finals with a fifth-place finish in the 200 free relay. Ben Jylkka, Aaron Renton, Matt Witkowski and Dan Kimble touched in 1:27.28 to score 28 team points. GVSU tallied 39 team points in the 200 IM. Justin Barkel finished fifth (1:56.14), followed by Justin Vasquez in sixth (1:57.53) and Matt Witkowski in seventh (1:57.72). Ryan Kraai tallied a 13th-place finish in the 500 freestyle, touching in a time of 4:50.53.

Freshman Ben Jylkka finished 16th in the 50 freestyle with a time of 22.37. The Laker 400 medley relay team concluded the night with a fourth-place finish, touching in a time of 3:28.93 to score 30 team points.
