Ashland, Ohio - Grand Valley State scored 102 team points during the opening day of competition at the 2007 GLIAC Swimming & Diving Championships in Ashland, Ohio. The Lakers' 102 team points places them second behind Wayne State's total of 151. The Championships will run through Saturday.

The Lakers tallied 53 team points on the 3-meter diving board. Joel Overway placed fourth with a score of 416.65, followed by Scott Klaasen in fifth (366.05), Evan Betts in sixth (357.90) and Ryan Smith in eighth (353.80). Ryan Kraai placed seventh in the 1650 freestyle with a time of 16:41.17, while Ross Perry was ninth, touching in a time of 16:42.46.

The GVSU 200 medley relay team of Justin Vasquez, Hans Hill, Phil Watkins and Justin Barkel placed fifth with a time of 1:35.70.
