Detroit, Mich. - The Grand Valley State men's swimming & diving team remained in first-place at the 2010 GLIAC Swimming & Diving Championships in Detroit, Michigan. The Lakers have a three-day total of 584 points, followed by Ashland (497), Wayne State (434.5) and Indianapolis (348.5). Saturday's fourth and final day will begin with prelims at 10:30 a.m. and finals set for 6:00 p.m.
Sophomore Raphael Santos captured his first GLIAC title when he touched first and set a Wayne State pool record in the 100 backstroke (49.97). Hans Hill finished 15th in a time of 56.72. Sophomore Jon Bardsley hit the NCAA "B" mark in the 400 IM with his third-place finish in a time of 4:06.56, while senior Collin Perry was fifth (4:15.35) and senior Jimmy Donahue seventh (4:15.89). Fellow senior Chris Conner finished 15th in a time of 4:32.75.
Sophomore Aaron Beebe hit the NCAA "B" mark with his second-place finish in the 100 butterfly (50.24), followed by junior Justin Pattermann who also hit the NCAA "B" standard with his third-place finish in 50.75. Sophomore Raphael Santos added yet a third NCAA qualifying mark with his time of 50.93 which placed him seventh.
Junior Jordan Schrotenboer led a group of four Lakers in the finals of the 200 freestyle in which all four hit an NCAA qualifying mark. Schrotenboer finished second in a time of 1:41.69, followed by senior Matt Witkowski in third (1:42.09), sophomore Joe Sayre in seventh (1:43.93) and freshman Derek Mead in eighth (1:44.07).

Senior's Hans Hill and Chris Conner hit the NCAA "B" standard in th 100 breaststroke with a fourth (57.73) and seventh-place (58.87) finish, respectively. Freshman Kurt VonEhr touched ninth (1:00.12) and senior Collin Perry 10th (1:00.81).
GVSU's 800 free relay team of Beebe, Witkowski, Sayre and Schroternboer hit the NCAA qualifying mark with a second-place finish in a time of 6:49.07.
