Detroit, Mich. - The Grand Valley State men's swimming and diving team is in second place with 69 points after the first day of competition at the 2010 GLIAC Swimming and Diving Championships on the campus of Wayne State University in Detroit, Mich. Lewis leads the way 76 points, followed by GVSU (69), Indianapolis (62) and Ashland (53). Day two will begin with morning prelims at 10 a.m. Thursday.
Grand Valley State claimed its first GLIAC Title of 2010 Championships in the 200 medley relay as Raphael Santos, Hans Hill, Aaron Beebe and Matt Witkowski touched first in a time of 1:32.74. The Lakers' Jeff Pauza finished fourth and hit the NCAA A mark with his time of 16:01.48 in the 1650 free, while teammate David Hayhow touched fifth and also hit the NCAA A mark with a time of 16:07.10. Ryan Kraai's swam the 1650 free as an exhibition and touched in 16:28.71 which would of placed him ninth.
