Grand Valley State's men's head golf coach Don Underwood was named the 2005 GLIAC Coach of the Year. Three Laker student-athletes earned All-GLIAC honors for their outstanding play this season.
Underwood in his 12th season at Grand Valley State, led the Lakers to a third place finish in the GLIAC Championships in the fall. Underwood guided GVSU to four first place finishes this season, including the NCAA Great Lakes Regional Invitational. Grand Valley finished second at the NCAA Super Regional, just missing the cut to the Division II Championships. Underwood has also earned GLIAC Coach of the Year honors in the 1999-00 and 200001 seasons.
Freshman Josh Orler was named to the All-GLIAC First Team with an average of 74.2, while freshman Tony Mango earned All-GLIAC Second Team honors after averaging 75.0 this season.
Sophomore Kyle Murphy earned All-GLIAC Honorable Mention plaudits, posting a 75.4 average on the year.
