May 17, 2006

Daniels, WVa. - GVSU junior Steve Larson finished day two at +2 and +5 at the NCAA Division II Golf National Championships in Daniels, WVa. Larson fired a 72, after posting a 73 on day one. The four day event continues tomorrow beginning at 7:30 am.

Larson had a pair of bad holes try to ruin his round but he was able to respond and finish two over par. Larson teed off on number one after teeing off on the 10th tee on day one. A pair of pars opened his round but bogied the third hole, just as he did on day one. Larson parred the fourth hole before recording a double bogey on the par five fifth. The junior settled down to rattle off three consecutive pars before tallying a birdie on the ninth for a two over par 37 on the front nine.

Larson copied his efforts on the back nine as he did on day one with four consecutive pars. A birdie on the 14th dropped Larson to one over par for the round and four over par for the tournament. A double bogey on the 16th set Larson back to +3 on the day. Larson wrapped up the day with a par and a birdie on the 18th to lower his score to a two over par 72.
