Bay City, Mich. - The GVSU men's golf team finished fifth at the Bay Valley Intercollegiate firing a two day total of 590. Josh Orler led the Lakers by firing a two day total of 145 and tied for 10th individually. The Lakers will travel to Midland, Mich. next weekend (Oct. 7 & 8) to play in the GLIAC Championship.
The Lakers finished 17 strokes behind host Saginaw Valley State who won the tournament but were only seven strokes out of second place. Ferris State finished with a 584 for second place, Wayne State finished third with a 585, and Northwood finished in fourth with a 588, while the Lakers finished with a 590.
Josh Orler finished in a tie for 10th overall with a 75 in round one and a 70 on day two. Steve Larson finished in 15th with a 146 (74-72) and Tony Mango finished in 18th place with a two day total of 148 (71-77). GVSU will participate in the GLIAC Championship in Midland, Mich. on Saturday (Oct. 7) and Sunday (Oct. 8).
