Golf Places First at Saginaw Valley Tournament

GVSU won the Saginaw Valley Intercollegiate Tournament with a two-day total of 578. The Lakers shot a first day score of 292, putting the team in third place. GVSU came back the second day and shot a 286 to seal the victory. Kevin Kremer placed third overall with a 141, Bill Schmidt shot a 145 to finish in eighth, Brad Franz and Jake Hamilton tied for 23rd, each recording a 150, and Casey Smits finished 32nd (154), to round out the scoring for the Lakers. Grand Valley has now placed first in three of its four tournaments this fall, finishing second in the other. GVSU will host the GLIAC Championships at The Meadows on October 4-5.
