Allendale, Mich. - Grand Valley State shot a 297 in the first round of the Ferris State Invitational on Friday (Sept. 13) and take a one-stroke advantage into Saturday's final round action. Ferris State sits in second place at 298, Findlay is two shots back in third place, and Wisconsin-Parkside is still in striking distance only four shots back.

Junior Kevin Kremer shot a one-under par 71 to lead the Lakers and sits in third place as an individual. Kremer took medalist honors in the first tournament of the year to help the Lakers win the Northern Michigan Invitational last weekend. Brad Franz shot a 73 and is in a tie for fourth place while Jake Hamilton posted a score of 76 and is in a tie for 15th. Bill Schmidt and Casey Smits both finished with 77 strokes.
