Grand Valley State tallied a two-round score of 590 (297, 293) to finish in first place at the Northern Michigan University Golf Invitational. The Lakers entered Sunday's round in first place, ahead by eight strokes. Grand Valley State finished ahead of second place Findlay (606) by 16 strokes.
Freshman Matt Malloure won the invite, shooting a 73 in the first round and a 71 in the second round for a two day total of 144. Tony Mango finished third firing 146 (71-75). Josh Orler and Jamie Clark tied for 10th place each shooting a 152. Matt Johnson posted a 153 (77, 76) for 12th place, while Steve Larson finished in 15th place with a 154 (80, 74). Kyle Murphy ended with a score of 155 (74, 81), finishing in 16th place.
The Lakers will travel to Ferris State to play in the Bulldog Invitational on Sept. 16.
