Grand Valley State won its first tournament of the season at Northern Michigan. The Lakers recorded a 301 on Saturday and 303 on Sunday for a two-day total of 604. They won by a three-stroke lead over Wisconsin-Parkside.
The Lakers were led by Kyle Murphy and Kevin Kremer, who both shot a 75 on day one and a 72 on the second day. The had a five-hole playoff to determine the winner of the tournament and Murphy beat out Kremer for the win.
Erik Wilutis tied for seventh place with a 151 and Bill Schmidt finished with a 152. Four Lakers, Jake Hamilton, Chris Johnson, Glenn Desgranges, and Brad Franz, all finished with a 153.
GVSU will play at the Ferris State Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
