Lockport, Ill. - Grand Valley State's Men's Golf Team shot a second round total of 302 Tuesday at the Great Lakes Super Regional. The Lakers are tied with SIU-Edwardsville with a two day total of 601, 13 strokes behind leader Northern Kentucky (588). Junior Steve Larson is tied atop the individual leaderboard with a total of 142 after firing a second round total of 73. GVSU will wrap up the final round of the Super Regional tomorrow in Lockport, Ill.

Larson and sophomore Josh Orler each fired a one over par 73, with Orler recording two birdies to go with 13 pars on the day. Larson had an up and down day starting the day with a birdie on his fourth hole followed by back-to-back bogies, Larson then answered with a pair of birdies seperated by four consecutive pars but ended the day with a pair of bogies. Junior Kyle Murphy and Senior Jake Hamilton improved on their day one scores by one stroke apiece as Murphy moved from a 78 to a 77 and Hamilton improved on an 80 with a 79.

The Lakers trail leader Northern Kentucky by 13 strokes, Saginaw Valley State by 12 and fellow GLIAC member Ferris State by four. Only the winner of the Super Regional advances to play in the NCAA National Championship held at the Glade Springs Resort in Daniels, WVa. GVSU finished tied for sixth in last year's Great Lakes Super Regional.
