The Grand Valley State Men's Golf squad took 12th place at the third Great Lakes Regional in Alton, Ill. on Sunday with a team score of 608. Steve Larson led the Lakers with a two day total of 148 (73-75) to tie for 14th individually. Grand Valley will now wait to see if it has earned a spot in the Great Lakes Super Regional held at the Twin Hills Golf and Country Club in Joplin, Mo. from May 7-9. The Lakers entered the week ranked fourth in the region.

Larson finished just three strokes out of fourth place as he led the Lakers in the weekend tournament. Matt Malloure and Josh Orler finished in an overall tie for 35th as both fired duplicate scores in each round. Malloure and Orler each fired an opening round 74 and followed that up with a second round score of 78. Matt Johnson was the fourth golfer for the Lakers in the tourney finishing with a 159 (76-83). Danny Vaughan finished with an 82 and an 80 for a two day total of 162.

GVSU will find out on Friday, April 27 at 5 pm when NCAASports.com releases the 2007 Men's Golf Great Lakes Regional Tournament Field. The Great Lakes Super Regional will be held in Joplin, Mo. from May 7-9. The top two teams from the Super Regional will advance to the NCAA National Championship to be held from May 22-25 at GVSU's Meadows Golf Course in Allendale, Mich.
