Allendale, Mich. - Grand Valley State finished 16th in the Grand Canyon Invitational in Goodyear, Arizona on Monday and Tuesday. The tournament is a three round affair with the Lakers firing 909 as a team. There were 11 NCAA Division I schools and several of the top Division II schools in the tournament. Cal State-Bakersfield won the tournament with a -13 under par finish of 851, 11 strokes better than anyone in the field. Senior Kevin Kremer led the Lakers with a tenth place finish after shooting 215 in 54-hole event.
Kremer started with a -2 under 70 on Monday morning, and fired a 77 in the afternoon. On Tuesday, Kevin came back with a 68, the second best score of the day. Jake Hamilton shot 229, while Bill Schmidt and Brad Franz tallied 233 and 235, respectively.
The Lakers next competition is at the Gannon Invitational this Sunday and Monday, April 13-14, in Erie, Penn.
