Five members of the Grand Valley State University football team earned All-Region honors on the 2004 Daktronics Division II All-Northwest Region team, including four players who earned first-team All-Region honors.
Senior defensive tackle Keyonta Marshall, senior defensive back Lucius Hawkins, senior safety DeJuane Boone and junior place kicker Scott Greene all were named to the first-team squad, while junior all-purpose performer Brandon Langston earned second-team All-Region honors.
The team is sponsored by Daktronics, Inc., an acknowledged world leader in scoring, timing and programmable display systems for virtually every sport at every competition level. The team is selected by a vote of the College Sports Information Directors of America in each respective region.
GVSU's four first-team All-Northwest Region selections now will be eligible for the 2004 Daktronics Division II All-America Team.
Marshall, who is a two-time First-Team Daktronics All-American, tallied 66 total tackles, inlcuding 25 tackles for loss (-67) and six QB sacks (-31) as GVSU finished 10-3 overall and advanced to the NCAA DII Northwest Region final.
Boone, who was a First-Team All-GLIAC selection, led the team in
tackles with 101 and tallied three interceptions. Hawkins, the GLIAC
Defensive Back of the Year and a First-Team All-GLIAC choice tallied 65
tackles, seven tackles for loss and six interceptions. Lucius concluded
his career with 12 interceptions. Greene, a First-Team All-GLIAC
honoree, converted 18-of-21 field goals and hit 45-of-46 PATs in his
first year as a full time place kicker.

In addition, Marshall and Hawkins have been selected to play in the Cactus Bowl, Division II's All-Star Game, in Kingsville, Texas on January 7, 2005.
