It was a long road for senior Curt Anes but on Friday night all the hard work paid off as the Grand Valley quarterback earned the 2002 Harlon Hill Trophy as NCAA DII Football's most outstanding player. Anes was a runaway winner in this year's contest after throwing for 3,331 yards and 44 TD's and leading the Lakers to a 13-0 record. Curt also led the Laker offense which led the nation for the second straight season in scoring and total offense. Anes holds the NCAA DII record for touchdowns responsible for with 127 and ranks second in total offense (11,538) and passing TD's (111), and holds virtually all the GLIAC and GVSU passing records.
