Grand Valley State (11-2) is set to host West Texas A&M (11-2) in an NCAA DII Quarterfinal playoff game Saturday (Dec. 7) at Lubbers Stadium. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. Tickets are available through the GVSU ticket office and will be available at the Lubbers Stadium ticket center beginning at 11 a.m. Saturday. Fans that will not be able to make it to the game can watch live on Xfinity channell 900 or listen to Dick Nelson and Steve Lloyd-Jones on the GVSN Radio Network (ESPN 96,1 FM).
Grand Valley State (11-2) claimed a 34-30 victory over the Colorado State-Pueblo last week, while West Texas A&M defeated Ohio Dominican 34-27.
Grand Valley State is 2-0 vs. West Texas A&M. The Lakers claimed a 37-24 road victory over WTAM in the season opener in 2009, followed by a 34-31 home win in Matt Mitchell's first game as head coach in 2010.
Grand Valley State is making its 16th appearance in the NCAA DII playoffs, the third-highest total among all Division II schools. The Lakers have a 30-11 all-time in the playoffs, with the 30 wins also ranking third all-time. GVSU's .731 winning percentage in the playoffs is first in NCAA DII history. Grand Valley State has won four NCAA DII National Championships (2002, 2003, 2005, 2006) and appeared in sixth title games (2001, 2002, 2003, 2005, 2006, 2009).
