GVSN Set to Televise Laker Football at West Texas A&M

Allendale, Mich. -

Grand Valley State University announced Friday that the Grand Valley Sports Network will televise the Lakers’ season-opening football game at West Texas A&M on Saturday, August 29. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. EST at Kimbrough Memorial Stadium (20,000) in Canyon, Texas.

The ABC affiliate in Grand Rapids (WOTV-4) and Comcast Cable (900/901) accross the state of Michigan will televise the game live with Tom Cleary calling the play-by-play and former Laker tight end Bob Mitchell giving color comentary. In addition, GVSN will air the game live on gvsulakers.com in the media center. Laker athletics also announced that a live video feed will be shown on the video board in Lubbers Stadium. The event in Lubbers Stadium is free and open to the public. GVSULakers.com will have more information on the Lubbers Stadium event as the game draws closer.

“We are extremely excited that WOTV-4 and Comcast Cable are picking up our game at West Texas A&M,” said GVSU head football coach Chuck Martin. “Laker fans will now have the opportunity to watch a great season-opening game between two nationally ranked teams.”

Laker football can also be heard live on the radio as Dick Nelson and Steve Lloyd-Jones are set for another year in the booth. GVSU football can be heard live on its flagship station, WMUS 106.9, during the 2009 campaign, while a list of eight affiliates will also carry Laker football in 2009.
