Allendale, Mich. - Grand Valley State held its annual senior awards banquet Sunday, Feb. 7 at the Eberhard Center. The event featured first-year head coach Matt Mitchell and former head coach Chuck Martin speaking about the 2009 season and highlighting what returns for the 2010 campaign. GVSU is coming off a 2009 season in which the Lakers claimed their fifth consecutive GLIAC title and and advanced to the NCAA DII National Championship game for the sixth time since 2001.
Following is a look at the 2009 Grand Valley State Senior Awards Banquet honorees:
Offensive Scout Team Player of the Year - RB Hersey Jackson
Defensive Scout Team Player of the Year - DL Lucas Kozuch
Offensive Rookie of the Year - C Matt Armstrong
Defensive Rookie of the Year - LB Ricky Shorkey
