Curt Anes guided GVSU to its first-ever DII Football National Championship in 2002.

Allendale, Mich. - Former Grand Valley State quarterback Curt Anes has been allocated to NFL Europe by the Detroit Lions and will play for the Scottish Claymores it was announced Tuesday (Feb. 10) by NFL Europe officials. Anes will report to training camp in Tampa, Fla. at the end of February.

Anes signed with the Detroit Lion as a free agent following an incredible career for the Lakers. The 2002 Harlon Hill Award winner as the top player in DII football guided GVSU to the 2002 NCAA DII National Championship with a 31-24 victory over Valdosta State. Anes rewrote the Laker record book, throwing for over 10,000 yards and 114 TD passes in his four-year career. His pass efficiency rating of 221.4 in 2001 was the top single-season rating in DII history and the second-best rating in college football history.
