Feb. 5, 2003

Grand Valley State University head football coach Brian Kelly announced the signing of 21 student-athletes to attend and play football for the Lakers next fall today.

"We filled our needs and are pleased with this recruiting class," said Kelly, who guided the Lakers to the 2002 NCAA Division II National Championship. "We went into the recruiting process with specific needs both offensively and defensively and I feel we have done a good job of getting the players we wanted."

Grand Valley signed 13 players that are slated for the offensive side of the ball and eight on the defensive side. Seven Laker recruits will participate in the Michigan High School All-Star game (6 West/1 East) in August, while both Florida recruits have already played in all-star games. Robinson played in the Florida North-South All-Star game and was MVP of the Broward County All-Star game, while Maurice Clarke also played in the Broward County All-Star game.

"The talent in the Greater Grand Rapids area was outstanding and we were able to get eight kids from that area," commented Kelly. "We have signed quality student-athletes that will fit in well with Grand Valley State University and our football program," added the Lakers 12th-year head coach.

Listed below are the 21 student-athletes that have signed with Grand Valley State.
