Grand Valley State University head football coach Chuck Martin announced the signing of 35 student-athletes to attend and play football for the Lakers in 2005.
"We couldn't be any more pleased with our 2005 recruiting class," said Martin, who led GVSU to a 10-3 record and a spot in the NCAA DII Northwest Regional Championship game. "We went into the recruiting process with specific needs and we feel that we have met every one those needs and then some," added Martin.
GVSU returns 41 letterwinners in 2005, including nine starters on offense and five on defense, from a squad that finished 10-3. GVSU is 51-5 the last four years with two NCAA DII National Championships (2002 and 2003) and three title game appearances (2001, 2002 and 2003).
"Our coaching staff did an outstanding job of first identifying players state wide and then recruiting those players to become a part of the Grand Valley State football program," commented Martin.
