Allendale, Mich. - Grand Valley State head men's basketball coach Ric Wesley has announced the hiring of Terrance McGee as a graduate assistant coach in the men's basketball program. McGee, who most recently completed a seven-year professional basketball career, will officially begin his duties on Monday, Aug. 9.
"We are excited to have Terrance McGee joining our program," said Wesley, who is entering his seventh year as head coach of the Lakers. "Having played overseas the past few years, he will bring some unique ideas to our staff. He has played for some great coaches and always been a leader on good teams. As a player, he was always a very intense, competitive player and those traits should serve him well as he begins his coaching career."
McGee spent two years at Kirkwod Community College (1999-2001) before enrolling at Southwest Missouri State in 2001. McGee averaged 14.2 points and 4.6 rebounds as a junior en route to being named to the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) Second-Team and All-Newcomer Team. McGee followed with a senior season in which he averaged 14.9 point, 3.5 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game. He earned First-Team All-MVC plaudits and All-Defensive Team honors as the Bears reached the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament title game. McGee played professionally for seven years following his collegiate career.
