Allendale, Mich. - Grand Valley State head men's basketball coach Ric Wesley announced the signing of Muncie (Ind.) Burris High School guard Jason Jamerson to attend GVSU as a student-athlete starting in the fall of 2004. Jamerson joins Jenison High School guard Pete Trammell as the first two signings for Wesley.

Jamerson turned in a stellar four-year career at Muncie-Burris, guiding his squad to a combined 72-20 record during his four years on the varsity. Jamerson led Burris to the top ranking for most of the regular season in class 2A during the 2003-04 campaign. He averaged 24.8 points and 11.2 rebounds for a team that finished 19-3 and advanced to the sectional finals. He also dished out 51 assists and shot 74.7 percent from the charity stripe.

"I was extremely comfortable with the University, coaching staff and players," said Jamerson of his decision to attend Grand Valley State. "I felt it would be a great environment for me to grow as a person, a player and a student," added Jamerson.

A three-time all-state honoree, Jamerson was the East Central Indiana High School Player of the Year as a senior. The three-time all-conference performer finished his career as the school's second all-time leading scorer with 1,628 points. Jamerson was named to the Indiana North All-Star team following his senior season. As a junior, Jason averaged 18.9 points, 6.7 rebounds and dished out 65 assists for a team that captured a sectional championship and finished 21-3. Burris was 20-4 Jamerson's sophomore season as he averaged 15.4 points and 6.7 rebounds.

"We are excited to have Jason join our program," said Wesley. "He is a well rounded player with a nice shooting touch from the outside and the ability to score in the paint. Jason comes from an outstanding program at Burris and his coach, Brian Carr, does a great job with his players. Jason (Jamerson) and Pete Trammell are nice additions to our program," added Wesley.
