Allendale, Mich. - Grand Valley State fifth-year head coach Ric Wesley announced the signing of guard Michael Green (Saginaw, Mich./Saginaw High) to a National Letter of Intent to attend and play basketball at Grand Valley State beginning in 2009. Green is the Lakers' second signee for the 2009-10 recruiting class.
"We are extremely excited with the addition of Michael Green to our basketball program," said Wesley. "Michael is tremendous all-around player and we felt he was one of the best shooters in Michigan," added Wesley.
Green (6-0, 170) averaged 21.0 points, 6.0 assists and 4.0 rebounds per game as a senior for a Saginaw High squad that finished 15-8. Green was named to the Saginaw News Dream Team and was a Saginaw Valley League first-team honoree as a senior. In addition, Green was an Associated Press Class A All-State special mention selection and a Detroit Free Press Class A third team performer. A three-year starter for the Trojans, Saginaw was a combined 67-10 during Green's career with two Michigan High School Athletic Association Class A State Championships. Michael scored a game-high 29 points and hit six three-pointers in Saginaw's 90-71 victory over Detroit Pershing in the 2008 title game. Green tallied the first triple double of his career with a 35-point, 11-assist and 10-steal effort vs. Pontiac Central as a senior.
