Grand Valley State University head men's basketball coach Ric Wesley announced Wednesday the signing of Jenison guard Pete Trammell for the 2004-05 basketball season.
"We are extremely excited about Pete joining our team," said Wesley, who was hired as GVSU's head coach on April 19th. "He, as well as his team, had an outstanding season last year."
"I am very happy about my decision to come to Grand Valley," said Trammell. "I finally found a place I feel comfortable at."
Trammell, the team's captain, led Jenison to district and regional titles last season, posting a 16-9 record. The 6-4 guard averaged 21.0 points, 9.5 rebounds, 2.5 steals, and 2.0 blocks per game in his final season as a Wildcat.
Following his senior season, Trammell earned First Team All-O.K. Red Metro and all-state honorable mention honors. He was also named to the Grand Rapids Press Dream Team.
"I like the guys at Grand Valley, love the school, and met with Coach Wesley, who is a genuine guy," said Trammell. "Him being hired was the icing on the cake."
"I am ready to go, ready to play," added Trammell."
"I have heard nothing but great things about Pete both as a person and player," said Wesley. "I know Coach Dyke does a great job at Jenison preparing his kids for their futures."
"Pete is the type of student-athlete we hope to continue to attract to Grand Valley State," added Wesley.
