Allendale, Mich. - The Grand Valley State men's basketball program handed out its postseason awards at its annual awards banquet. GVSU, which is coming off its fifth straight appearance in the NCAA Division II basketball tournament and it fourth straight GLIAC North Division title, finished 22-9 overall and 16-6 in GLIAC action. The Lakers' roster consisted of all underclassmen, thus no seniors were honored at the event.

Ringler, who was a First-Team NABC All-Midwest Region honoree and a First-Team All-GLAC North performer, led the team in points (13.4 ppg), rebounds (6.9) and assists (87). Sophomore Alvin Storrs was named the Defensive Player of the Year. Storrs led the team in steals with 63, while also chipping in 8.6 points and 2.6 rebounds. Freshman center Asauhn Tatum, who redshirted the 2009-10 campaign, was the Derrick Smith Unsung Hero Award recipient.
Grand Valley State will return 13 letterwinners and all five starters for the 2010-11 campaign. The Lakers dropped a 78-76 overtime decision to Elite Eight participant St. Joseph's College in the Midwest Region semifinals to close the 2009-10 season.
