Allendale, Mich. - Grand Valley State senior Jason Bauer earned GLIAC Player of the Week honors for helping the Lakers to two conference wins last week. Bauer averaged 22.5 points and 11.5 rebounds in victories over Ferris State and Saginaw Valley State. Jason recorded GV season highs in both points and rebounds at FSU when he tallied 28 points and 17 rebounds to avenge a loss to the Bulldogs earlier in the year. He followed that effort with a team high 17 points in the win over SVSU. It was the 12th time this season Bauer has led the team in scoring, including each of the last seven games. It is the second time this season Bauer has earned the Player of the Week award, as he also received it on January 13.
Bauer is the GLIAC's second leading rebounder in conference games averaging 9.9 per game and needs only 12 more boards to become the third player in Laker history with 1,000 rebounds in a career. Jason also needs only 16 points to become the 16th player in Grand Valley history to score 1,300 points in a career. He also ranks 9th in Grand Valley history in both free throws made and blocked shots in his career. In the 2002-03 season, Bauer is leading the Lakers in scoring at 14.4 points per game and rebounds with 9.1 per game.
